Summer

Here is a very abbreviated version of what we did this summer. Starting with Abby:
She finished her first full year of ballet at Studio 708. We were so proud of our little ballerina.
Abby went to the Farmer's Market, ate ice cream, played with her bestie Lila, and hung out with our neighbors
She celebrated the 4th, swam with her friends, snuggled with her brother, and had many fun trips to the farm
And on occasion, was less than amused with yours truly.
Charlie: Napped, snuggled, and became infatuated with watching Yo Gabba Gabba in his parents bed
He also played with the big kids, went swimming and swinging, played with his Grandparent's, ate some paint, and played in the backyard with his sister.
Somewhere in all of this Charlie decided that eggs, peanuts, and almonds are way overrated thus becoming allergic. He also played some peek-a-boo, and rudely demanded his mother's iPhone.
Mommy and Daddy: Did a 5K color run for charity, gave high 5's and hugs, went fishing, had an adults only lake trip, watched their sister/sister in law get engaged, and tried to force Charlie to walk.
We had so much fun this summer...Next up, our beach trip!

Goodbye, Adenoids! Hello, Summer!

Let me tell y'all... For us, having Abby's adenoids out was an absolute life saving, game changing, hand clapping, hallelujah singing, praise the Lord kind of surgery. We dealt with A LOT over the winter trying to get her well and avoid surgery, but there comes a point when enough is enough. Enter Dr. Klug. I adore him, and Abby wants to marry him. She asked about him weeks after the surgery, and was pretty bummed when his nurse did our follow up appointment. If you met him, you would see why, too. He absolutely gave us our little girl back. Before we did this surgery, Abby was in and out of doctor's offices, not sleeping, not eating, and on about 90 straight days of an antibiotic. Dr. Klug made the call, and we scheduled her appointment for a month later. Here we are going through several breathing treatments at the Peditrician's office:
And now we wait... But we have to get sick one more time before the surgery. This forced us to move the surgery a week earlier than previously scheduled. This last round of bronchitis also forced us to postpone Charlie's birthday party. Poor thing...
Finally, the day is here. I never thought I would be "excited" to have my child undergo surgery. That's probably not the right word I am looking for, but we were very ready. The last picture is post-op- she has no clue what's going on.
A few days later we were eating hot dogs at Target and buying a Hello Kitty bathing suit. Who would've known?!
In the midst of all of this it really made us very sympathetic to those families that have children that are truly very sick. What we dealt with wasn't even a tip of the iceberg that some are going through; hats off to you. We are very lucky that we have two healthy children, for some do not. Finally, we can relax, catch our breath, and enjoy summer...
Have I told y'all that I am obsessed with red shoes?!

It's Fun to be One!

Can you believe that Charlie is 1? It really seems like days ago that our family of 3 became a foursome. Here we are packed and ready to go to the hospital for a 6:00 check in time!
After checking in, answering a few routine questions, and getting hooked up to some machines... Charlie Kamm was born at 7:55 am.
Fast forward a year later at 7:55 am. Happy Birthday to you, Charlie!
And later that day chowing down on a birthday cupcake...
A few days later we had a birthday party at our house with friends and family. It was mostly a party for Abby and all of her friends, but hey, Charlie doesn't know the difference, right?! It was an ice cream party complete with games, bikes, a bouncy house, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles. It was a lot of fun. Here is the birthday boy at his adorable birthday party!
We ended up moving his birthday party to the rain date, which was Sunday afternoon because Abby was so sick with another round of bronchitis. It was still a lot of fun, and we are very appreciative of all of our friends and family that celebrated with us. Here he is looking so handsome and chunky at his 1 year (eekk!) checkup.
I know... you just want to squeeze him, don't you?!
